Learn the greater art of “seeing” as practiced by the Boston School of Painting and how it is applied to drawing and painting. The focus of this class provide an introduction to the steps taken and principles applied to the art of a still life painting. Obviously, due to the limited time we will be doing a small drawing and a small simple painting in the Reading Center studio. This class is for all levels. Students should contact me or the Reading art Center to sign up. Once you sign up you will get more info and a discussion of supplies.
My solo show is currently hanging in the gallery and will be up until October 15. So, come early (gallery opens at 10) to see the work before the class begins at 11.
On the final weekend of my show I will be doing a still life painting demonstration and talk in the gallery. The bar will be open if you'd like to buy yourself- and me a drink. Ive not done one of these in a while so I may need some cocktails to loosen things up.

Spring Landscape class starting soon- Saturdays 10-1, April 27th thru June 15. Fee $220 (Such a good deal. It really should be more- feel free to tip me). Supplies are the student's responsibility. A supply list will be provided.
Location: First class meets at artist's studio in Eden Park; then at various parks thereafter .
I have a very hands on approach to my teaching and give very thorough critiques. Enjoy the spring weather with "Cincinnati's most charming painting teacher", we will meet at a scenic parks to learn to sketch and to paint with oils. Drawing on the ideas of impressionism, you will practice the techniques needed to complete painted sketches, including basic composition, value, pattern, color spotting, and covering the canvas. Then, building on those skills, you will complete a larger fully realized landscape painting that will capture the impression of light and color of the Cincinnati landscape. Details and directions to the various locations will be given in class. No experience necessary
One thing I will be stressing is that what we are doing is landscape painting- and not Plein Air. We are Americans! Students are not allowed to call it 'plein air' unless they are actually French.
Time for our 7th annual Fall show at Greenacres Art Center.
This years theme will be the Artist's Process.
The show opens on Oct. 26th, 6:00-9:00 pm. and runs until Nov. 18th, with various special events held throughout.
First, What is the Greenacres Artists Guild? From their website:
"Greenacres discovered that there was a void in the Cincinnati area for artists who are committed to the principles, methods, and traditions of Cincinnati’s Golden Age. Therefore, we teamed up with elite professional living artists from the Cincinnati area who are focused on the traditional approach to art and formed the Greenacres Artists Guild. Each member of the Greenacres Artists Guild was personally selected and invited to join the organization based on their abilities and approach to art."
Of course you wanna see the show but I imagine your main concern is "when will Richard Luschek be there?!"
I will be there of course on Opening Night (26th), but will also be in attendance on the Beer and Bourbon tastings where I will be doing a still life painting demonstration during the event.
I will also be there on Illustrators Day.
See the Greenacres website for more info and to get tickets for the tasting events. https://www.green-acres.org/events/
